  From the hill
PICT0006.MRW

Many cities have them, looming architectural features that dominate the landscape. Sometimes a church, sometimes a theatre, or perhaps a stadium. Sometimes you have to go looking for it and sometimes you can't miss it -- it is there in your face day and night. In Oakland California it is the Mormon Temple that sits astride a gentle hip half way up the Oakland hills. From Highway 580 you can see it front he 80 split after the Bay Bridge. Then from the "maze" down past 35th there it is. From 580 you take Fruitvale then a quick right jog on Macarthur to Lincoln and then up the hill. Fro Highway 13 you take Joaquin Miller.

We call it
The Mormon Temple, it is officialy listed as:

Church of Jesus Christ of Lds: 510-531-9767
4915 Lincoln Way Oakland, CA 94602, US

For the past couple of months I have been photographing it at different times of day and night. In the process I have found many different vantage points, which have helped me look around my city. I am not Mormon, nor am I catholic but I did enjoy the Sistine Chapel. These monuments are what we leave behind for the next generations they will be our echoes. Many times they fade into the background and slip in into our memory, artifacts they magically disappear.
